About Us
Yarns Untangled, located in Kensington Market, is a craft boutique dedicated to carrying a wide selection of the best yarns available, with a special focus on the work of talented hand-dyers from across Canada. Our country has so much to offer when it comes to the production of small-run hand-dyed yarn, and it is our first priority to give those dyers a home in Toronto.
In addition to the hand-dyed yarn we specialize in, we are also happy to carry a wide selection of factory yarn well-suited to match the needs of a variety of projects, stash needs, and budgets.
Whether it’s beautiful yarn, high quality equipment, crafting advice, or simply a welcoming community of crafters that you’re looking for, the skilled and knowledgeable team at YU is here and ready to help you find it.
We exist to welcome those who seek a home where they can live, breathe, and cultivate a love of crafting, surrounded by gorgeous yarn and the kindred spirits of the knitting and crochet community. We feature a wide variety of classes on knitting, crochet, felting, spinning yarn and more, including the ever popular stitch nights on Wednesday evenings. Anyone is welcome to attend, and if you forgot your project at home, you’ll be set up with a new one in no time!
Since being founded in 2015, Yarns Untangled has continued to grow steadily towards the logical next step of an online store, and in the fall of 2019 we have finally arrived at that step! We are very excited to bring our amazing collection of products to crafters outside of the reach of our brick and mortar shop. In our online store you’ll have access to virtually everything we carry in store, with a few online exclusives to sweeten the deal.
The YU team is currently made up of three women coming from a variety of backgrounds. Amelia, the owner, is also a classical musician playing full-time with the Kingston Symphony and in a variety of smaller groups around Toronto. Annabel is currently finishing up a degree in early childhood education and brings her specialized enthusiasm and patience to her teaching and retail work. Alison has a background in gallery and museum education and a particular skill in visual art and a variety of crafts. Her sense of adventure and open-mindedness are a perfect fit for YU.
